Those Across the River

In this terrific thriller, Frank Nichols, failed college professor and scarred veteran of the Great War, becomes the new owner of a modest homestead in a sleepy Georgia town. An aunt Frank never knew bequeathed him the house, but, in a letter delivered after her death, she warned him not to live in it. Not one to heed such a warning, Frank moves into the house with his “wife” Eudora. At first, it’s liberating to break their ties with the past.
