Technology & Space Module - Ages 5+

The goal of the Technology & Space Module is to build kids’ fascination with the solutions of tomorrow and get them excited to look beyond the world they see today. Topics in this module include mechanics, astronomy, robotics, coding, communication.

STEAM Academy offers an interdisciplinary approach that weaves together the science, technology, engineering, art, and math skills learned in the classroom and connects them to things kids see every day.

This Launchpad contains the following apps:

All About the Solar System
Children can accompany characters Roy and Zet on this interactive space journey. Travel through the chapters and learn about celestial relationships, why seasons occur, the planets of the solar system, and much, much more!

Clean Up This Space!
Museum educator Ann Caspari will read the original story "Clean Up This Space!" The friends are inspired while cleaning their rooms to return to their fantasy space story and imagine how their robot and alien characters could clean up space junk. After the story we create fantasy tools and toy zappers.

Family of the Sun, The
Gather your little ones for story time with the National Air and Space Museum. Museum educator Ann Caspari will read the original story "Family of the Sun," which tells the story of the planets in our solar system. After the story, do a craft to make a solar system playset.

Into Outer Space
Blast off into outer space with real astronauts. Help the crew launch the shuttle and repair the space station.

Lonely Little Moon, A
In this original story from the National Air and Space Museum, we learn about the Moons of different planets. What would it be like to have lots and lots of moons to orbit around with? Jupiter’s moons have lots to say about it. After reading "A Lonely Little Moons," Museum educator Ann Caspari will lead us in making a moon mobile.

Pet Escape 2: Math Drill Games for Kindergarten
Pets on Earth have been kidnapped and taken into outer space to be made as space pets for the aliens! Your task is to blast away asteroids containing the right answers to math problems. The more levels you complete, the more keys you earn.

Presidents in Space
Join our presidents on their intergalactic travels as they bring truth, justice, and freedom to alien planets.

Race in Space, A
Can two kids build rockets and race them through the solar system? Join us for music time and dance along to learn more about the planets.

Solar System
What can we learn when we slow down to look closely at objects? Join in as we look closely at at pictures of several different planets in our Solar System!

Space Learning Adventure
Blast off into space for a learning adventure! Children will explore extraterrestrial lands, meet aliens, and more while building knowledge of shapes, letters, numbers and colors.
