Pedro y el lobo (Peter and the Wolf)

Pedro y el Lobo es una historia acerca de un joven chico que conquista un lobo. Un vivaz cuarteto de cuerdas representa a Pedor, el chico, y la flauta se encarga de los trinos del pájaro. El abuelo se reconoce inmediatamente en el fagot y el gato acecha y se pavonea en la figura de un clarinete. Finalmente, está el propio lobo, al que representa la siniestra formación musical de tres trompas. Las Huellas del Lobo es una historia que convierten la imagen del lobo como criatura aterradora a la imperiosa necesidad de valorar y proteger los recursos naturales. Se trate de una perspective contemporánea que recalca la importancia de reconocer el punto de vista de los demás, un valor esencial a la hora de entender a las diferentes personas y culturas. Peter and the Wolf is a story about a young boy who conquers a wolf. The boy Peter is represented by a sprightly string quartet, and the Bird sings its trills and runs on the flute. Grandfather's grumbling presence is immediately recognizable on the bassoon and the Cat stalks and preens as a clarinet. Finally, there is the Wolf himself, whose sinister musical shape is three French horns. Wolf Tracks is a tale that converts the image of the wolf from a fearsome creature to one that represents the imperative to cherish and protect natural resources. With support from the Russian Arts Foundation, the RNO commissioned French composer Beintus to write the score of the new piece and selected award winning broadcast writer Walt Kraemer to create the accompanying text.
